Can you see time with the help of knitting?
Own our own time V a performance artpiece in the form of 60 meter wide monumental knitting PRESENTED BY KERSTIN LINSTRÖM (SWEDEN) AS PART OF THE TRIENNALE'S OFFICIAL OPENING ON AUGUST 27th, 2016. VERNISSAGE - 3-7pm OPENING REMARKS - 4:30PM OWN OUR OWN TIME V - 5-6PM The start of this project was a desire to understand time, to feel time and get a physical sense of something constantly elusive. For one hour a large group of 83 knitters meet and save a unique moment together. The link to knitting is a way to force the time to adapt to a bodily tempo. A desire to slow the speed to a pace that is human. In this activity the one who knits the slowest controls the pace of the whole work. New ideas arise as the project develops. In which different context is it possible for future and heritage to come together in a natural experience? What can two so sharp objects as knittingneedles create in form of protection and warmth? When does an object get loaded with care? How do you transfer knowledge wordlessly? Welcome to take part of this ongoing artproject. Reed more about it on Kerstin's blog: http://knittingincircle.blogspot.com THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED IN CONTRIBUTING TO OWN OUR OWN TIME V! |
